Debt Payoff Calculator
Enter your debts and a monthly budget, and compare the debt snowball (smallest balance first) with the debt avalanche (highest rate first). See your debt-free date, total interest, and the exact payoff order.
Stay on the plan, not just the math
Knowing your payoff order is step one. Savvu forecasts your real account balances so you can see that your debt budget actually clears each month — and catch the month it won't, before it happens.

Both methods pay the minimum on every debt, then throw all your spare budget at one target debt until it's gone — then roll that freed-up money onto the next. They differ only in which debt is the target:
- Snowball: attack the smallest balance first. You clear whole debts quickly, which builds momentum and motivation.
- Avalanche: attack the highest interest rate first. This costs the least in total interest and is usually fastest overall.
Which should you choose?
The avalanche almost always saves the most money. But the best method is the one you'll actually stick with — if the quick wins of the snowball keep you going, the small extra interest can be worth it. The calculator above shows both so you can decide with real numbers.
Tips
- Include the minimum payment for each debt — the plan always covers minimums first.
- Your budget must be at least the sum of all minimums, or the debts can't move.
- Every extra dollar in the budget field shortens the timeline; try nudging it up.
